It's nice to hear about significant others sharing the same interest, whether it's cars or anything else.
At any rate, having just sold my '71 RS, "Camaro Performer's" magazine was and is a good resource, not only for editorials, but also for technical information. Here is a link to their on line magazine. Hard copies can also be purchased and they have a Facebook link (if you're into that kind of stuff!):
Well, long story short is I have a daughter in a UC school out here in CA and the tuition costs are going through the roof, on top of the fact that although my 71 was a very nice restored car, I still equated it to that movie, "The Money Pit!"
So, I still wanted a Camaro and wanted something with newer lines and had newer amenities. So where is my 5th Gen right now at this very moment? Funny you ask
It's sitting in a repair bay at the local dealership getting a rear main oil leak repaired on a 2010 that only has 10,000 mi's on it. How ironic is that? Don't get me wrong, these 5th gen's are very, very nice!
Luckily, the So Cal boys on the NastyZ28 site (of which I am a member) haven't thrown me under the bus!!!

As for a "blown" motor there are 2 inferences here. One signifies a "forced air induction" of some kind. Read: Supercharger or turbocharger. the other refers to having improperly tuned/built/maintained or just plain abused your sh*t and blown up your engine!!
Enjoy the learning process. Don't try to take it all in too fast. Burnout sucks... Unless of course it's the drive tires we are talking about....
I have started with howstuffworks.com and it is very helpful! I am trying not to get too frustrated with the learning process, but the more I learn, the more I realize there is much more to learn! thanks for your post! I really appreciate it!
Bucky6731, Thank you so much for your post! It was very helpful! I appreciate you taking the time to explain all of that to me!
You are very welcome.... You can amaze your husband with that little knowledge. You'd be amazed at the amount of people that don't know that little history lesson....
Bucky6731 is right !, Luv seeing that stuff/info !
No need to over whelm your self (if your confused), take a bit at a time, maybe find a blue print of a standard motor of your choice, look at all of the parts, get familiar with it, it will help, if that is to much try getting a model of a motor, that should help a lot & its fun to tinker with, who knows your husband might want to join you, several years ago I did one for fun but my boy (at 2yrs old at that time) knocked it off the table & shattered so it went in the trash. I even went out and bought my wife a few model cars to tinker with so she could understand the basics, we had lots of fun building them & teaching her the parts, what they do and what they are, she loved it and it was simple stuff that brought us a bit closer too.
Please keep us posted on your progress and what you learn !
