GM would have never went to the scrap heap. It was in the best interest of America for it to stay around. No matter who the president was, it was not going anywhere. Thats the facts.

If GM would have completely folded so would have Ford and Chrysler. I read an article in a magazine a couple of years ago and the guy who wrote worked inside GM for years and he said GM's problems started well before 2008 or whenever it was they got bailed out. He said it actually started a long slow decline beginning in the late 60's. Basically mismanagement, too many brands that all looked the same etc. and the belief inside GM that they would never falter like they did.

Ford wouldn't have folded..they had enough private investors to stay around.

EDIT: And no, Obama didn't save GM from the scrap heap..Bush was the one that OK'd the bailouts. Obama just likes taking the credit for things he didn't do.

Obummer carried out the bailouts and Bill Ford Jr. even said had GM went down that Ford would have also....I am glad they are still here GM and Ford but not so much Chrysler, 2nd bailout, bad quality as usual....

But he didn't sign them...all he did was carry out something he had to do anyway and takes the credit for it.

I could give a crap less who the president was at that time, just saying GM should never take lessons from Ford about anything. Not knocking Ford, just love the way Chevrolet builds there cars vs Ford. Some of you might not like it but its my money and my opinion.
