How do you open/close your trunk?

Ok, so recently I've noticed that I kept opening my trunk by just putting my fingers under the (stock) wing, but I started thinking that over time that would put extra stress on it, and probably make it loose. So I've had to make myself grab under the trunk lid and start opening it that way.

But closing it is still not the best, as I usually use the bowtie. My car being dark blue, I try to keep the fingerprints off the paint as much as possible, because on my car they are SOOOOO obvious.

So, not sure if you've ever thought about all of this, or it's even worth a thread, but does anyone have tricks or tips on what they do for opening/closing their trunks?

I have always opened it with the trunk ledge. closing the lid I grasp the trunk latch and pull it to position and then place the bottom of my palm on the upper edge of the spoiler where its still trunk sheet metal and lightly close latch. leaveing a less noticable print. being a black car thats the least smudge resistant I have found without putting stress on the spoiler and the bowtie.

I will take a video to show how I open and close the trunk when I get home. But I can say that before the carbon trunk was on, and there was still a bowtie, I closed the trunk using that.

This is my method pretty much except that I use the 2 rubber bumps stops to pull the lid down. The latch cover comes off real easy...

Then I use both forearms at shoulder width (no finger prints left) to spread the load out and push downward but letting go so there is no contact with the spoiler as the trunk latches closed....

I just pull down on the two little bolts on either side of the latch, then "throw" the trunk closed using the latch.

I close it with the bowtie, but will probably have to change my method when I replace the bowtie with gloss black.

To open I always use a finger or two under the trunk, never the spoiler.

You could keep a stash of napkins in the center console or glove box...then before you go into the trunk just make sure you grab a napkin and use it between your fingers and the paint.
