Red SS

I was stopped at a gas station feeding my car when a guy came up and was talking to me about my car and his and informed that the red ss badge meant that I had the deluxe package which I do the HUD and heated seats gage cluster all the bells and whistles that has me curious was he accurate about the red ss badge on the trunk? He even called it a red ss.

The red SS emblem means you have the RS (rally sport) package while a white emblem indicates you do not. I've never seen the term "red" SS used unless it actually was a red SS, the term SS/RS would be the correct terminology.

The RS is an exterior appearance package which includes the HID headlights.

All the interior accoutrements (HUD, heated seats, etc.) are included with a 2SS or 2LT.

My SS is cyber Gray, thanks to a bit of GM touch-up paint

Ok I have a question and if you know the answer please shout out I have the auto ss and I was trying to price the LS3 crate engine which has more hp because someone told me auto's where L99 so before doing any research on my car on my own I took it to Chevrolet they scanned what ever they scan and told me that I already have the LS3 then I did my own research which I came up with the same conclusion. My question is could a bunch of people be mistaken that the auto ss did infact come with the LS3 or the L99?

You can change out the AFM lifters and cam and create a pseudo LS3, but no Camaro factory build with the 6L80 ever had an LS3 installed.
The L99 block is different as the oil passages to the lifters support the AFM. The heads are different as well.

OTOH, many with the L99 have embraced the VVT and there are cams that work very well with that. Very streetable but kicks ass when the revs rise.

You do not want to go down the crate motor road.
