Top Speed calculated...

Ok, this is what I did.... Jumped on Forza Motor Sports for my 360. Grabbed a 2002 Camaro gave it 425hp (close i could get it) and entered the trany ratios to give me a top end speed.

Most top end is limited by drag / hp / gear.

SS Model

TR6060 - 178.1 - Manual
SL80 - 182.8 - Auto

LS/Lt Model
Closest to hp I could get was 325

AY6 - 183.7 - Manual
SL50 - 167.2 - Auto

Thought the info would be kind of neat.

Most tuners can get around it.;)

The G8 was 139 and mine is removed. I have hit 163. I believe I read the Camaro will be in the 140s somewhere stock, but that can get raised at the very least.

On a public roadway, I agree 110%, but there are those that strive to know their car's true potential (like me) and will arrange a top speed run on an airstrip for instance. It was never implied that top speed would be 'checked' on a public roadway.;)

Wait a minute...no one else saw this and questioned this? The manual V6 is faster than the V8, I think not:confused:

That'd have to be a very long airstrip to get to terminal velocity in a Camaro. Anyone ever ran a car at an airstrip? Just curious about the legality of someone turning over an airstrip just so you can run your car...sounds like a lawsuit to me if something happened. Oh, and don't bother with the "I'll sign a waiver for damages incurred" deals...that doesn't fly in civil court.

I like doing math and did all the calculations for the auto and got 228.2 MPH in 6th at redline:BangHead:. I went BS I need to check my math I must have mad an error. Redid the math...same answer. Then I said I must be using the wrong numbers so I use a real speed calculator and got 225.3:confused: So with out a governor/speed regulator it's faster than a 'vette.

Ran the manual through and got 276.2 MPH which is supercar speed

And now I question the whole speed calculation.:screwy:

If your aerodynamics don't defeat you, and I think they will. None of the cars that can go 225 (and there are few) are shaped with a big gaping snout for a nose. Front-end lift and wind resistance will probably keep the camaro to about 150-160.

Took awhile, but with drag its:
auto-148.33
manual-179.53

The auto seems about right, but the manual is little high in my opinion.

edit for a side note.
I did the whole thing for a new Z06 and got 208 mph with the drag.

nice catch! haha i didn't even look at the 6 i was debating the SS and forgot all about the LT/LS
