Ambient lighting/Doors

My 2010 Camaro RS has the ambient lighting, and on the driver's door, the lighting stops about an inch and a half from the top of the door. The passenger side is fine. The dealer says this is "normal". Anybody else have this problem?
Thanks,
Gina

The "shadow" that is blocking the ABL is from an anti rattle strip of self adheasive fuzzy cloth put on the door panel from the inside. The ABL will shine through just as the other side does if this is removed. You may be seeing a shadow on one side and not on the other because the anti rattle strip may have been not installed at all or installed improperly at the factory. I have disassembled quite a few door panels and found this to be the case.

Gina,
It is supposed to stop and inch and a half or so before the dash.
Besides the fuzzy stuff there is also paint to scrape off to get the light to shine through. I have done a write up on the mod, but haven't posted it yet.
It would be easy to block it out, but harder to make it light up nice.
Hope this helps.
Randy

The pic above is true, but without the fuzzy strip in that spot there is the possibility of not having enough paint on that area to completely block out the light causing the variance in the amount of light seen from side to side in your car. All of the panels are painted the same way, with the same mask at the factory regardless of color, that is why I'm leaning towards the missing fuzzy strip.

Ambiant door lights

A question.
From the photo posted earlier, the ambiant lighting for the top of the door panel is a strip of LED's?
I was hoping I could increase a bulb size or something to make it brighter. I hate the fact that they tied it into the dash dimmer control, because it dims so much almost disappearing when I have the dash the brightness I like at night..
Or is there a way around the dimmer control? ANYONE??

PS: MY DOOR PANELS ONLY LIGHT UP AT THE VERY TOP EDGE. NONE OF THE PANEL ITSELF GLOWS. IS THIS NORMAL???

Thanks to all armed service members, and government law enforcement officers for keeping our way of life safe.

Are you looking for the write up on how to make the ABL run all the way to dash? If so I managed to download a PDF from the other site.
