Here is Your May Member/Car of the Month!!
This is a great honor that I appreciate very much! The following are the answers to your questions, and thank you!
What got you started with your love for Chevy and the Camaro?
What got me started with my love affair with Chevy and the Camaro was my father. He was a long time Chevy guy that passed that love down to me. He had gas stations, and taught me how to work on cars at an early age. The last car I remember working on with him before he passed was his 1957 Belair. The first car that I worked on by myself at age 16 was my first car a 1969 SS350 4-speed Camaro that I ended up racing in Super Stock eliminator. Over my lifetime I’ve owned a 1st Gen (‘69), 2nd Gen (‘79), 3rd Gen (‘82), and now a 5th Gen (2010).
What’s the Story Behind your 5thgen Camaro?
I was planning on recreating my ’69 Camaro, and I just could not find something to start my build. After being frustrated for some time, my lovely wife said “why not buy a new one”. Well she didn’t need to tell me twice, so the search for a 2010 Black 2SS/RS had begun. It was my wife that found the car at a dealership in Philadelphia, PA. I was on a business trip, and as I was driving home from the airport, she called to tell me she found the car, and told me to stop and take a look at it. Well I stopped and bought it that night. For the most part, it is a weekend only car… I’m the purest of our club, and have not started to mod it at all. I plan on keeping it that way, pure as the day it was delivered.
How did you come across ModernCamaro.com and what made you stick around?
Like everyone does when they start looking into the 5th gen Camaro, I checked out the various forums that are out there. I’m a member of many of them, but ModernCamaro is the one that I enjoy the most. If you have a question about a Camaro, there is always a friendly response from the members. ModernCamaro is a great resource and helps all of us in the Camaro community.
How did the Camaro or Chevy in general change your life?
Since purchasing my 5th Gen Camaro, I have met so many great people. I consider them to be my extended family. This new found family is what created the South Jersey Camaro Club. We are a non-profit organization that gives back to our local community. As the secretary of the club, it allows me to do more for people who are less fortunate, and do it in a bigger way. As our club continues to grow, (over 80 members in just 7 months) the more we will be able to do for our communities, all the while enjoying the car that has made it possible, the Camaro.
Finally do you have anything you’d like to say to ModernCamaro.com members or anyone else reading this interview?
I’d like to dedicate this special honor to my fellow South Jersey Camaro officers as well as to all of the members of South Jersey Camaro Club. A big “THANKS” to my South Jersey Camaro Club members and OceanChevy for voting. I also want to recognize GUAPO, JHiiidoc, and MANAWAR for their nominations. They are just as deserving of this honor as I am!!!
Please keep our service men and women in your heart and mind. If not for them, we would not have the opportunity of freedom that we enjoy every day!!!
