You have been nominated as the Member of the Month for July 2012!!!
What got you started with your love for Chevy and the Camaro?
Mine goes way back, in 1975 I had a friend who had a built 1967 Camaro that everybody was out to beat, loved that Camaro. My first Camaro was a 1968 that I got in 1978 for $350.00 needed some work but it was mine. About eight months later it got totaled (not my fault). About a year later I ended up owning the 67 that my friend owned until going active duty Air Force and could not bring it with me so it was sold. I have owned 5 Camaros total 1 (67), 2 (68’s) a 78 Type LT and Currently our 5th Gen Inferno Orange Metallic (TAZ).
Whats the Story Behind your 5thgen Camaro?
I kept hearing about the “New Camaro’s” coming out but I did not believe GM was really going to produce one. So I bought a new truck instead in 2007. When I saw the 5th Gen really coming out I told my wife that I was going to get one, wasn’t asking permission. I knew I was just going to get one just did not know exactly when. So in Jan 2011 my wife and I went a looking. She saw the Inferno Orange Metallic and said if you’re going to get one that would be the color. After looking around awhile wewent back to the dealer we have used before got the deal we were looking for, the rest is history
How did you come across ModernCamaro.com and what made you stick around?
In 2009 I was surfing the web and came across Modern Camaro. I lurked around awhile and like the way people helped each other out so I decided to stay. I consider MC my Camaro “Home”
How did the Camaro or Chevy in general change your life?
While growing up and getting involved with the Camaro in the 70’s, I learned how to be a mechanic. In 1979 I ended up joining the United States Air Force as a Special Purpose/Heavy Junk Mechanic. Got to see the world and meet people who love cars from all over the world. Owning TAZ has brought my son Christopher and I closer. Going to car shows and events has enabled him to understand that all “Modified” sport or muscle cars are a works of art and are to enjoyed no matter what make or model. We have a game called muscle cars. The first one to see a Camaro, Mustang, Challenger, Charger or a truly nice car, of any year, to call out the make. i.e. Camaro and the color.
We are now part of Emerald Coast Camaros and love getting to meet new people.
Finally do you have anything you’d like to say to ModernCamaro.com members or anyone else reading this interview?
I would like to thank all the members who have assisted me with learning about my 5th Gen. I truly love the interaction and all the post. Thanks for all who have supported me and TAZ we will continue to be around and I believe this Camaro will be around for a while. I normally trade cars every 3 yrs. I have had about 55 cars and truck since I was about 15.
Thanks Again, Guapo and Son....
