Somewhere, in an apartment complex behind the Dahl's on Merle Hay Road, there's a neighbor who is due a commission.
It was the neighbor, a grinning Paul Shallberg explained Friday, who first knocked on his door Wednesday night to recount the following story: He had just come from World of Wheels car dealership, which was having a special promotion to publicize its recent move to a new lot at 5330 N.E. 14th St. in Des Moines. There had been a flier in the mail promising fabulous prizes if a five-digit number on his card matched a poster on the showroom floor.
urns out, Shallberg's friend was off by only three digits.
Tell your neighbors they need to come in, a salesman had told the man. It's probably one of your neighbors.
Cut to Shallberg on Thursday after work, showing his card to salesman Eric Stubbs, who nearly faints when he sees the now-memorized "23498."
Then there's Shallberg, 35, a computer software guy at Precision Development, standing on the showroom floor and calling his girlfriend to tell her he won a completely rebuilt 460-horsepower, orange-and-white 1969 Chevrolet Camaro
