Smile '68 Camaro from SoCal

Hi to all you 1st and 2nd Gen owners my name is Joe and I have a 1968 Camaro which Im restoring as an SS396 car. It has a 396 Big block around high 300's to low 400 HP and a TH400 trans and a 12 bolt posi out back. It was originally an all blue Camaro but we decided to go all black inside and out with white racing stripes.

I've been working on the car for over 4 years now and its "almost" done but needs the whole interior and I plan to change out the rear springs and brakes. Plus are they ever reallyyyyy done? lol

I got a set of California Performance Products CPP 4 wheel disk brake kit cross-drilled and slotted zinc washed rotors to help get that 396 slowed down! Havent had a chance to install them yet though. I also plan to add a set of Detroit Speed Engineering DSE 2" drop springs in the rear to start giving it that "pro-touring" leveled look. I have the multi-leaf springs on there now and its a bit on a rake still looks great either way though...

I will post up some photos once I'm on my other computer.

Nice to meet all of you!

Heres a link to see the build-up of my Camaro with photos:

Sweet looking 68 Camaro Joe!! I just finished reading your build, and looking at all your pictures. You definitely did a good job bringing that car back to life and its glory days!!

Believe it or not, but I'm more of a fan of the 68 Camaro than I am of the 67. Don't get me wrong, I Love Jade, but there's little things that I like better about the 68's. Good news though, unlike 69's, the first two years have the same exact body lines, fenders, quarters and doors.

Thank you Bucky! Its been alot of work but well worth the time and effort.

This is true the '67 and '68 are almost like twins so thats cool we can share so many parts with each other. The body lines especially in the rear... nothing else like
'em!

By the way your Camaro is beautiful you've done a GREAT job yourself man!!!

Hey Joe, thank you for the compliment. I have two threads dedicated to Jade, both of them under the 1st Gen Camaro. The second thread was for the installation of the complete Hotchkis Suspension

My brother has a 69 X11 RS and I'm just not a fan of the body line.... Either you like them or you don't, and the latter. But I do like the console and gauges a lot better in the 68's. I can't stand the 67..... LOL

Sounds cool I'll have to look up those threads on Jade and check her out! How do you like the Hotchkis suspension? Did you do their Full setup?

Yea the gauges on the '68 are pretty cool, unfortunately I havent even gotten to the point of installing mine yet the interior needs a full overhaul still. lol
