Good question! I had a 70 1/2 Z28 in the mid 70's. I believe they were much more rare. That LT1 was 350/360 HP.

Very few were made with the true LT1. In 1979 it was 370 HP (highest of any GM small block at the time) with forged pistons and solid lifter camshaft, 4 bolt main, and the transitor (solid state) ignition 11.1:1 CR required high octane (I used to run av-gas when racing, or retarded the timing for premium of the time to avoid detonation).

The 1971 the CR was lowered to 9:1 and HP dropped to 330. 71 was the first year for hardened valve seats as well preparing for unleaded fuel (75 was mandated for all).

I don't have the exact production numbers, but less than 2,000 each were produced if I remember right.

I had the 1970 ( both the camaro and the corvette) but both are very rare.
