Building of a 5th Gen here in TN!

Well started working on my AMT kit today! I hate AMT quality but I guess I can deal with it. Haven't figured out what color or whether I'm going to leave the top on or not but got plenty of work in the meantime (2 hours just to get driver side door seam right). Mightg not be able to tell in this pic but there is actually a seam between door and body on driver side now.

Cool!

Yeah, AMT isn't always perfect on the models, but it's still fun building them!

The outside part is not bad. The body doesn't have any warps like some AMT kits are notorious for and so far all the body parts test fit good. The underside detail isn't that bad either. Engine/trans detail however is not that hot at all. I might put an LS1/T56 out of an Fbody kit in it just so it looks more realistic (it looks like an old sbc with a muncie attached to it)and just place the New bits on the upper half. Heh I need to get a better camera to take pics with

Got some progress done. Both doors and trunks have realistic seams (looks like actual separate parts instead of a vague line dividing them). The rear panel didn't have a trunk line at all so I made one there as well. The Ram Air opening was not a real opening but rather an indentation so I opened it up as well. And I decided I'm going to go ahead and make a vert out of it so I loped off the top and blended all the edges to match the pics. Now the tricky parts. Got to fabricate the body panel between trunk and top boot and make a boot as well. will report back later.

Dremel Xacto sandpaper. Used knife for the small stuff (seams and ram air) and dremel for top then sanded it down to right shape.

Halfway done. Body is fully prepped and painted,(black) Chassis completed, interior over halfway done. Rims are painted gunmetal spokes rest is left chrome. Paint is almost flawless (one of the best I've done so far) and will be fully cured by tomorrow. I'm going to probably pull the stripes from a SS chevelle (white) along with some SS badges. I'm going to make some red SS lettering to place on headrests and thinking of red bowties on the rear headrests. Already sanded rear bowtie off so I can cut one (SS emblem) out of an old grille I have for the rear deck emblem. It's getting there!
