Driving RPM

Been years since I had a V8. What RPM should one be cruising around in, (LS3, 6 SPD)? Unless your going 70+ probably shouldn't be in 6th....

Unless you like using lots of gas, you should be in the highest gear as soon as possible. You have plenty of torque with the V8 engine, so don't worry about grunt. This isn't some little rice-rocket motor that needs to turning high revs all the time for power. And anytime you want tp get quick acceleration, you can always downhift a gear or two if necessary.

Usually if I am stop and go traffic (under 50 mph) I don't go over 4th gear. Once I am on a highway (Over 50 mph) then it is in 6th gear. Never have had a problem with that (V8,6Sp Manual)

Thanks,

Wasn't sure if I was "bogging it Down" as the Owners manual puts it.

1200-1500 is where I like to cruise. If I'm not blastin' down the highway.
I use the tach alot to remind me to shift up.

you'd probably have to be under 1k to bog it down any. You'd definately feel it. I can just barely get by doing 33 ish in 6th.
