Wheres the sound

Well I saw my first new camaro up close and got to sit in one as well…Then they cranked it up.

Not what I was expecting at all…After all these months of reading how Chevy wanted such a unique sound..Very disappointing..

Even when reving it up…The mustang to me has a much better stock sound.

Did anyone else fell this way.

mustangs have always sounded great.

try folding down your back seat...it will sound louder when you drive.

honestly, I'm not too disappointed with it's stock sound...it just could have been a touch louder. That said, I did just install LT headers. much better now.

I did the "muffler delete" on my SS 6sp. Even my wife had to admit, "that's how a Camaro should sound". Very quiet when off the throttle, very nice when on it. It should only be done with the 8 cyl 6 speed combination however. Apparently it doesn't sound good on the automatic when the fuel management feature kicks in. Two of us here in Auburn have done this, and we're both very satisfied with it. The only problem is some popping when you let off on the throttle, as the fuel control lags the throttle input slightly. I've been told that it can be corrected with some re-programming, but frankly it doesn't bother me enough to do that.

Don't judge by exhaust sound alone. That can be fixed. I don't mind it being quiet.

GM had to ensure they met all dB levels for production. They've always gone conservative. But there are many choices to fix that out there now.

GM's decision on the note, as probably said before, was made more for an 'upscale' and 'more tame' looking car for the masses. Not to mention with the IRS it's not hard to see where they were going with the car.

The Mustang, also.. has that little pipe running into the dash from the intake. Remove it, and you probably would hear the same amount of sound in the cabin as the 'maro.

Exterior wise.. I think it's (Mustang burble) just a compensator (read E-peen extender) for the fact that we have over 100HP on the GT. IMO I like it, gives it a sleeper feel. But to each their own. That's why there's axlebacks, full systems, muffler deletes, exhaust system deletes..

Pick your poison.

Support MC.com peoples.. $9 bucks. Timmy needs to get that wheelchair into the 10s!
