Insurance A Must Watch

When I bought my Camaro LS it was auto covered for 5 days until I made a trip to my insurance company. The paperwork I received in the mail said I had a Camaro/Camaro RS. I thought this was wrong since I have the LS. I went to the ins company and told them I had the LS not RS. Well, they called their "home office" and were told that the LS would cost MORE to cover???? I told the lady to have the agent call me. He called and was I shocked. I told him my VIN showed up as an RS but I had an LS. I asked him what models he had on the insurance listing. He said the RS, Z28 and a convertible. I almost laughed. I told him the models were the LS and SS and the RS was a package which could be added to the LS. I also told him the convertible would not come out till 2011. No doubt the insurance industry has the Camaro rates all screwed up. Make sure your insurance is correct by all means. He said the reason mine said Camaro/Camaro RS was because they grouped the LS and RS together but couldn't explain the Z28 or convertible entires for 2010. I told him the RS would cost much more to repair than the LS and he said everything was OK showing mine as an RS. I didn't mind either since the RS is cheaper to insure than the LS. Check your papers guys something is up with the insurance industry. My insurance is through "Farmers Insurance" which is a national chain.

Why would the RS cost "much more" to repair?

Our insurance went up $40 every 6 months for no reason. Now it's $84 bucks per month instead of around $78. Bastages. I thought even that was too high...

Garage
Shop around, shop around! My hubby and I just dumped Allstate after 19 years. We were getting shafted and didn't know it. We are now with Auto Owners. Allstate wanted a little over $1400/year to insure my 2LT. Auto Owners is only $512/year. That's right...$512 per year! I should have shopped around years ago.

Thumbs up

Hey 54 inches - Well the RS has leather, 2 gran worth of wheels and rims, cluster guages and the Boston A 245 watt radio, heated seats, steering wheel audio controls, just to name a few. The LS doesn't have these comforts, therefore, if you were to wreck an RS optioned Camaro it would cost more to repair it, thereby, costing more to insure it at least that's how it is supposed to work in the insurance industry. The more costly it is to repair the more it will cost to insure. That's way I freaked when my agents "home office" said an LS would cost more to insure even though it costs less and has less options than an RS. I pay 2 gran a year to insure my vehicles, 3 full coverage and two liability only. I was lucky and got the white one with orange rally stripes. Don't know if you can even order the white one anymore since it was an interim color.

Hey Sarge,

My point as I am sure everyone else here is that, NONE of those things should be damaged in a repairable car.

White was a late color. Teal was early.

I would freakout if my agent told me my ls cost more than a SS, but not what you are saying.

I would freakout with just what you are paying in insurance.
