Ours has it too, and it's an auto. Not sure what it is. Does hers have the backup assist? I'm just reaching for straws.

think it just covers the wiring connector for the wires that go into the mirror.

Sounds like a wire cover. My GMC has something similar and has the compass and exterior temp gauge in the mirror. Gentex I believe.

both cars have the back up sensors so i dont think it has to do with that. if it was a wire cover for the mirror then mine would have it too. as i said hers is the auto and mine is the manual. i noticed when i drove hers and went to adjust the mirror i was like wtf is this thing in the way here.

yes

yes both cars are identical except hers is the L-99 auto and mine is the LS-3 manual. all the options are exactly the same but hers has that little box on the windshield and mine does not. i dont believe its the lojack either as i think they hide those deep in the car.

it is the remote control door lock reciever (RCDLR), the L99 car has remote start and the LS3 doesnt, so they mount the LS3 RCDLR behind the dash and the L99 RCDLR is on the windshield to help pick up the signal for remote start
