Manual Shift Problem

Hey guys, I noticed on my m6 LLT, there's a significant amount of resistance when putting the car in first while the car is moving and I'm anticipating to stop. Also, that same amount of resistance exists between first and second gear making it extremely difficult to get a smooth shift going into second. Does anyone else experience this and should I bring it to my dealers attention? Thanks everyone

typically its hard to put into first when moving at anything above say 20 same goes for trying to get into reverse lol..due to the gearing inside i wouldnt be overly worried unless you develop other issues with shifting

First gear is not synchronized and is designed to be accessed stopped. Be very careful trying to engage it while in motion. You run the risk of damaging the gear or shift fork.... same with reverse.

I have the same issue with my G5. But sometimes it likes to do it even when stopped. Oh well..I just throw it in 2nd then into 1st and it's good to go.

Exactly! Because it is not synchronized. And if the shaft is sill spinning (usually due to a pilot bearing dragging slightly or incomplete clutch disengagement) it will protest. Going to another gear moves the momentum there and allows the first gear shaft to slow enough to engage. **** manuals!!
