2010/2011 Camaros: Lease Fodder?

Yeah. Apparently I inadvertently stumbled upon an idea with the 'rents about our next car lease. At the moment it's down to the Taurus but even then with my mother being the primary driver she has her reservations since NAIAS. Seats are a major sticking point since she's developed back problems.

So, should that whole deal not pan out we had another idea: Leasing an SS.

Why? Didn't I say at one time she didn't like the Camaro?

Yeah, she doesn't.. however she does and has been driving my truck (Christine the Exploder) for a good long while now ever since I came home. Aparently she finds the quality and drivability better than that of her Edge. She also misses 4WD and buying an SUV is out of the question since they're pushing ungodly prices nowadays. As such she's tentatively agreed to consider the following.

Lease an SS; I help with payments out of pocket, then I buy it off lease. This was the original plan with the Edge until we found out it was teh suk so now we may try this again with a car I'd drive, take care of, baby under binding agreement with the dealership, then buy at a major discount in 3 years.

This, however, hinges on the fact that Camaros are available for lease.

So.. are they?

GM doesn't care where they get their cash. If you can find a company that will lease it to you. That's going to be the issue.

So essentially it's up to the dealership since GMAC kinda went AWOL and even now is kinda out there as far as a lending agency?

Well I guess I can scratch a few off the list right there. Where's Scotty and Eric to chime in when you need 'em. <_<

Garage
I sent one to NJ which was a US BANK lease...it was the lowest cost one...but MUCH more than a loan payment....by about $150 per month, with cash down too! GMAC was way off the charts the last time I checked. Eric may have some experience too -

Oh good lord.. what was he paying then; 750+ a month then? I assume it was an SS. *cringe*

Well at least if anything comes out of this thead it's one thing: Be sure you really want to lease it.

Leasing is an option sometimes if there's a special deal that makes it alot more affordable.
But, at the end of the lease you end up with nothing, and then have to buy it (and potentially continue to pay on it) or give it back and get something else.

Alot of times traditional financing is just as affordable, and at the end you can keep the car.

It all depends on one's own situation, and how the numbers fall for you.
I do believe, however, that GMAC is back in the business of leasing.

Also there is a mileage issue usually the lease is 3 years and 36,000 miles if you go over that 36,000 miles it is usually 10 cents per miles that you are over. It doesn't seem like much till you start driving and this car you will want to drive.

GMAC is getting back into leasing but its mainly for the high end stuff like the Caddy's. The customers are no longer able to write off the leases and are being forced into imports instead. Hence they are bringing it back for certain vehicles. I've heard the Camaro may be a consideration also as it's not a belly button car.

If you have any question about buying out the lease at the end, PURCHASE it upfront!!!! You will come out way ahead in the long run. Leases are designed for one thing and one thing only.... turning the car back in and getting a new one.
