Barton Shifter Installed

So I waited all day for my Barton short throw to come in, and it finally did at 6:30 pm. Started working on the car at 7:30 with much needed help from fellow member, odoylrulez (i think thats how you spell it). Overall it took a few hours after running into little kinks here and there. For any of the V6 owners like myself thinking of buying a short throw, I would like for you to know that the shifter itself will not just pull out from underneath the car like it will in the SS. We found this out the hard way, as noted in the instructions, that there are centering springs on the v6 shifter that are located in the worst possible spot. There arent really any videos to help doing this, so we had to just make it up along the way by removing the dust boot inside the car to access the springs (You unscrew some bolts and literally just pull rubber duds out). All in all, it wasnt too dificult of an install and i absolutely LOVE the look and feel of the new shifter. I got the new white ball. here are some pics. . .

So my wife has the V6 Camaro and I was wondering how the new shifter feels? I have a C5 Corvette and I think her Camaro is harder to drive than the vette as far as shifting smoothy goes. So how does it feel...are the shifts notchy? Just over all, how does it compare to the stock shifter?

I'll let u know when I test it out on the road unless he chimes in first. After the install, while stopped, I went thru the gears to make sure nothin was loose and it felt really good and solid, shortened up A LOT and went in and out of gear very smooth. It's not as big of a name brand as Hurst, but this guy definitely did not skip on quality by any means.

as far as the shifts go, going first to second is still goofy like it was before, as it gives resistance. what the short throw helped a lot with was the shorter throw, and a more solid grip to tear through the gears. The cue ball shifter is so much more comfortable than the stock shift knob, and overall it feels much more solid than stock. Definitely a very good upgrade. But I definitely feel you as far as the V6 not being smooth with the manual transmission.. I guess they were spending all of their time trying to get a good powerful motor, and didnt think much about the gearbox.

What was up with the thinking behind the OE shift knob. Ugh. CAn it be any bigger or awkward? Seriously.
