Thinking about getting a truck

After almost a year with the Camaro and only 6,000 miles the fun has not gone away.

However I keep thinking how useful a full size pickup would be since I have younger kids in sports and could use the carrying capacity of a pickup at times.

I know I would lose money on a trade -in but I also know I could get a pre-owned certified full size pick up with higher mileage and a 100,000 warranty.

I need someone to talk me out of these crazy thoughts.

i felt the same way since i gave my faithful dakota away to my brother a couple months ago!

i ended up buying a new truck this weekend, and could not be happier! i FINALLY got my truck back!

but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do NOT sell the Camaro for a truck!!!!!!

BTW: 2010 models have 0% financing or $6000 rebate! i was looking for a used as well (07 or newer) and ended up with a new one for the same price as the used one i wanted!

Right now you can get a new truck cheaper than a new truck in most cases. Biggest thing is the 0% financing.

You meant new truck cheaper than a "used" truck?

Yes, I noticed that. It's crazy!

the 0% is nice... but you gotta have great credit for that.

me being only 23, i knew i couldn't get that. but they showed me the difference between either 0% or the $6000 rebate, and the rebate was only $2 more per month, about $144 overall IF i paid the minimum each month.

as with my other 2 cars, i have been paying double the minimum. we've had my wife's SRX for 5 months now and should have it paid off by the end of the year... the camaro, maybe next July.

dont trade the car in. keep it and buy a used silverado with low mileage for less than 20k,depending on what you want it to have.

thats what i was looking for, but it all depends on where you live.

all the used trucks here for under $20k were oilfield trucks with TONS of miles. and i know better than to buy a used oilfield truck... they get beatin' and are offroad 75% of the time.

You're right that you would take a hit if you sold now but remember if you keep it you will still take the hit but in smaller monthly increments. If you could get a big discount on the new one it could offset the hit.

I just realized that you were inquiring about replacing your Camaro with a truck. I thought you were just looking to add one in addition...

Don't even think about it. Just get yourself a previous gen Silverado if you insist. Heck, if you're just looking for a bit more utility, take a look at the Colorado.
