Does the V6 have a speed limiter of 118mph?

^I was about to go to my local dealer and order a CGM 1LT RS w/ Black Rally stripes and a 6spd Manual Tranny and I watched a video on youtube of the V6 camaro acceleration. The camaro shot like a rocket and easily got to 115mph but when it hit 118mph it said Speed Limited to 118. What is up with this. Is there just a limiter for the automatic or is it for both and is there a way to remove the limiter? Plz help guys I would really really appreciate it.

if there is somehow a governor, you can remove it with a tune, but that will also void the warranty of everything the ECU touches and controls which is just about everything

most tuners aren't tuning the V6 yet (at least the engine tune)...one of the few available is a mail-order tune though.

do you REALLY need to go faster than 118?

This is just throwing it out there. But could it be the speed is limited at 118mph when not in sport mode but when in sport mode It will go to 140 - 155?

No, it's based onthe speed rating of the tires. If you got the all season tires that are rated to 118, the car is computer-limited to 118. if you got the higher speed rated tires, the limiter would be 155.

So what your saying is all I have to do is change the tires? I really wish someone would explain this to me step by step so I don't buy a car that only goes 118mph.
