Stereo/Navigation/Camara Questions

Gang,

I'm probably not doing this right away but it won't be too far behind the paint on my new 'vert on the project list.

Here's the thing. In my situation (I have a very bad neck) I am adament that I will be adding a rear camera system to my upcoming Camaro. I just need the extra visibility for parking/safety concerns.

I also feel that while On*Star would meet the needs of some, there's nothing like a fairly large screen Navigation system to help you get where you're going.

That said, I'm looking to install these into my '11 Camaro as soon as I can pull it off. In scouring the various Camaro enthusiast sites, someone posted a picture of a nice option that provides what many of us are looking for. Unfortunately he didn't have a lot of details.

Are any of you looking into something similar, have you already done it? Do you have some lessons learned or buying advice for the rest of us?

I've attached a narrowed down picture of the system suggested to me, I think it's pretty sharp so long as it doesn't cost you any functionality of the steering wheel controls or other options included with the 2SS/RS.

Your thoughts?

Thanks!

Tib

the Metra double din kit is a great way to get a touch screen radio/navigation that is rear camera assist ready.

just find the radio would want that has a composite video rear view camera input.

i'm kinda partial to Pioneer and this is what i would get if i decided to spend $2k on an in-dash touch screen and rear park assist:

Thanks RedJewel2SS, I'll be digging into your links. Yeah, that's a chunk of change, the one in the picutre cost the guy $1700 (his words) all told, which while cringeworthy, is do-able. Any ideas about the existing steering wheel buttons, bluetooth phone, on*star stuff, or would that be entirely seperate to this build?

Thanks

Tib

there is an adapter you can buy to keep the steering controls functional... just another $70 for that

Seems like the same kit, I saw the faceplate in a Cartoys catalog, but the guy knew nothing about how to piece it together. It's a way off but definitely something I'd like to hear more about!

Keep us posted y2k king. I looked at the Pioneer, but was concerned about the discontinuation of the Microsoft service for traffic and that I didn't recognize the GPS manufacturer.

Thanks!
