Exclamation * Camaro paint line update news *

ModernCamaro.com Exclusive (until reposted)

I was told today that the paint line "upgrades" are still a few months out, but the Camaro will be one of the vehicles that will benefit from it!

When Eric and I got to sit down with scott settlemire around the time he was here just before the state fair/ auto show I asked him about the paint issues and rock chips.
As he put it this car is very flat is some area's ( frontend and sides/rockers )
We knew paint chips were something that was going to happen when it was designed simple you want a retroed car ? you deal with this since the frotnend is FLAT and easy to take rocks.

Get a clear bra or do what I do wax the frontend after every wash and dont ride peoples ass. sit back enough so rocks dont always have time to fly back and hit your car.

works for me 1 got 3 small chips on the whole car

knock on wood

I got a chip on the front driver side of my hood the 3rd day I owned the car.
On the 5th day, the front was covered with a clear bra.

I don't have too many problems with stone chips. I have the splash guards, and a clear bra. My paint isn't perfect but I love the RJT.

Now that being said I don't think everyone's paint on these cars is perfect. Much like the issue with the plastic tether on the gas cap holder. It is too tight to hold the gas cap and it just pops right off the hook. In lurking posts on the other site I noticed you will get people saying you are a retard if you can't use it. In other words if you take my word for the flaw in the plastic on the gas cap, I'll take your word on the paint.

My car appeared to need the extra 30 days curing time beyond the baking that was done at the factory. Why do I say this? I had a scratch, that was next to my rear window. I buffed it out using Quixx but the car was less than a month old. I got red on the cloth.

Once I passed the 1 month mark any other scratches including retouching up this one did not rub off onto the cloth.

What are these proposed upgrades exactly, Scott?

No, it means that instead of having a paint system used by 75% of GM vehicles, it will use a unique system that is required for Cadillac - so Cadillac quality paint.

That's great news ! Thx much Scotty , I'm glad to hear that GM is allowing Camaro's in on the paint proses from Cadillac... IMO A higher quality paint !.

Pony & Tib; It would be smart of GM to start w/the verts (!), I would believe GM should have your guys verts painted when this all takes place, it would be dumb of them not to, specially with all of those limited Editions coming also
