Camaro Death

The girl friend had an aqaintence at work die today when he lost control of his 2012 SS. I dont know the details but judging from the cell phone pic and the tire marks he lost control of the rear end and panicked rolling the vehicle several times at about 120 mph. I only met him once and I asked him what his experience with these types of vehicles. He said this was his first. He challenged me to a race but I declined. He replied with your not on duty quit acting like a cop. Bottom line people. respect the power of these vehichles. They will kill you if you dont know what your doing. He survived the crash but was in a coma. He never came out of the coma. Be safe Fellow Camaro owners.

Very sad news.....but some people should not be in muscle cars. You're up in PA...let me see. 5th gen SS up north in winter temps driving 120 on Summer tires. That sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Sad...We are lucky to have survived our youth..

I have the same car now that I had when I was a crazy 20 year old..

This same car will never see the street racing it once did...never, ever..

I will drive legally one hour one way for track time now...

Even the very best drivers can make a mistake. Any LEO (at least in Calif) has to attend EVOC per California POST requirements in order to graduate from the Police/Sheriff academy and having been through it myself (although several years ago), it helped me learn my limitations of what I could do and not do with a car. Unfortunately your average driver doesn't go through any type of advanced training. This is not to say that advanced training will keep you from crashing, but it's a leg up.

I am always saddened to hear about someone losing their life, especially in something as senseless as high speed driving while trying to have a little fun. My prayers to his family.

Ive been on a few high speed pursuits in a challenger. Most times it was with a kid in a gto or a shelby or a Camaro ss. I remembered when I was young. Just be safe kids im an old gear head.

Sorry that happened but we were all kids once and Knew Everything and No One could Tell U Anything!!!! It's the same with Motorcycles (as a MC Instructor) the young ones or New to motorcycling don't Repect the Bike, It's Power and Ride Way Above their Skill level and end up paying the "Ultimate Price" for what, Nothing!!!!!

So sorry this happens. I'm 42 and always think I've got it under control. Truth is, I'm not very mature for age and need to stay 'fear'-ful. Sorry the family mentioned is going through it.
