Two SS questions: tires and exhaust

So I just bought a new 13 SS and got shown up by one of my friends in the turns. Since I have to go work on this now what are some recommendations for good yet not overly expensive tires?

The car also isn't loud enough. I found a Borla exhaust system I want but what about just cutting the mufflers out and welding steel in where they would have been for a temporary thing. Would that do any damage? Anyone know what this sounds like?

But there's no going back to yesterday

it appears you are in NJ. Where in NJ are you?

We have an active club that gets together a lot where you can check out some of the rides in person and see what tires and exhausts we have. Really tough to build an opinion through a forum except for instructions.

I'm in in monmouth county but willing to drive a little bit for a good meet. I just need a cheap set of tires to burn through but okay for iffy weather since the car is my daily as well

Monmouth County eh? We're neighbors! I don't know too much about a good recommendation for tires but a set of lowering springs will also help. For the exhaust, I wouldn't cut or modify it. If anything I'd say look into the Flowmaster or SLP exhaust. I've heard that they are very loud. And the Flowmasters do not cost as much as other exhausts. My OBX exhaust is loud but not too loud until I get on it...then it roars. But there is some guy around Neptune who has a IBM SS and his car makes mine sound quiet. So I guess it depends on how loud you really want it.

I've seen that one out a few times! I tried to race him in my old LT. I'll have to check out the flowmasters. I still need to save up to buy one. I'm more concerned about my fast cornering abilities at the moment. I'm not sure I want to lower it anymore then it already is. It's almost on the ground now

Do you go to any local car meets?

I used to go to them but not in the past couple years. There used to be one at the McDonalds in Ocean Twp, the Home Depot on 18 in New Brunswick, and the Home Depot in Middletown on 35. Lots of killer cars out there. And down on rt 37 west of the GSP there was always some kids out there meeting up. I lost touch with all my old contacts so I have no idea where any of the meets are anymore. If you and Blue10CamaroSS get something going or find out anything as far as a meet or a cruise then count me in.

Curious tho, where are you driving that you need to get better at cornering? And what vehicle was your friend driving that out-cornered you?
