Considering a Camaro? Which one?

Hi there, I joined the forums in hopes to get some recommendations from folks on the forums. First, a small intro...I am 42 yrs old, the last 4 cars I've had were all 5-series BMW's...I got to know them well, but my current one is a 2003 530i OEM M-package. In the middle there somewhere I did have a 300C with the Hemi...I did like that car, went like hell but I got tired of it after a short while as it began to feel like cheap flash to me.
Call it mid life crisis, but I am a bit of back yard mechanic, do my own work, like to tinker, detail and upgrade cars....the 2004+ Beemers have gotten way out of my league (technology wise) and I am looking for something fun and fast.
Hence, I am looking at the Camaros...I've just poked around at some 2010-11 SS models that looks like I can pick up in the mid to high 30's. BUT having some mechanical ability, etc...I have no issue picking one up a few years older, 40, 50000KM...
So, I am asking others on here, lets say not going over 40K, what year, model and features of Camaro would you look for and why? Best bang for buck? Which will best hold its value?
Love to hear opinions....thanks!

For 40K, you can almost get a pretty loaded 2SS new, you can definitely get a new 1SS ... check Chevrolet Cars, Trucks, SUVs, Crossovers and Vans and build one and see what it costs

2012 2SS / RS CRT; Additional Options: Highwing Spoiler, Sunroof, Window Tint, Splash Guards, Wheels, Nitro, Heritage Grill, MRT Louvers, Ported Throttle Body, Cold Air Inductions CAI, RX Sport Hood, someone's splitter, River City Strut Bar
Born On: 13 April 2012; Purchased: 27 August 2012

The transformer editions were gorgeous cars, they we dressed up quite a bit nicer than stock, if I were you I'd look for one of those. Also you may want to look for a Hotwheels edition, they look just stunning in person with that shade of blue. Ofcourse you'll pay a little more for those but they will hold their value better because they are special and stand out more than a standard SS.

However all the 2ss models have head-ups display, heated seats, sunroof, leather, Bluetooth streaming, and the center console gauge pack so they have all the basic luxury items. The sunroof may be optional, I'm not sure.

They even have some pretty cool choice on interiors now, you can get tan or brown, black or grey leather, and starting in 2013 they started putting touch screens in.

2012 1LS Silver Ice - Mods - SS Strut Brace, RX Catch Can, BBK CAI, TRS Bi-Xenon HID's, Blackout Grill, RX65 Radar Detector, 700watt 4 Channel Amp with Kicker Speakers, 4Pack Gauges Added, 30% tint. Baer Drilled Rotors & pads, 20" American Racing. Awesome car.

First off...welcome to the site! Hope you stick around.

For mid to high 30s you should not be looking at a 2010-2012 even if they are fully loaded with low miles. I say that because there are lots of people who have scored 2010-2012 fully loaded 2SS/RS Camaros with low miles for mid to high 20s. If you're gonna spend high 30s, then you can definitely get yourself a 13 or 14. If you search and get really lucky, you may just find a 2012 ZL-1 with high miles. I'd recommend looking for a 12 or 13 SS.

Welcome to MC, please post our new members thread so we can give you a warm welcome
w/ Chapel.. tho if you finance the Camaro.. and no money down or no trade in, your looking at
30K on a 12' or 40k for a 13' w/low miles & 45-50K for a 14' 2SS at least in my area, its all supply & demand in the area you live..
and I bought shadow at 35K (9,000Mls), but after signing she came to a gran-total of 48.9K...

I guess I should have mentioned, I am in Ontario Canada, we have 13% sales tax here and the cars are cheaper in the USA to start with, so the 40K here doesn't go as far!
Thanks for the recommendations so far! It would seem that the transformer/hot wheels models still sit around the 50K range!!! There are some 2013 2SS models, demos, with 15-20,000km on them that get close to mid 30's in price.
From what I gather, the 2013/14 are roughly similar, the 2010-12 are quite different?

The 2010-2013 models are all similar on the exterior but the 2014 exterior got a refresh from GM and it looks somewhat different with a new hood on the SS plus an updated front and rear valance.

Haha.. close, 10yr/100K... sadly we should of asked for 500K/5yrs
Tho, the loan was set up for 8yrs @ 4.5% interest.. me wife's score is high 800 & mine was low 800 not sure why we got such a high interest rate,
tho a lot of people here say (here) thats pretty good &
Our payments are ok, not great, sadly we didnt put a penny down
