What or Who influenced change to Chevy?

Have you ever owned a Mustang or Challenger?
If you have, I would love to hear who or what convinced you to trade for a Camaro.
I'm not being bias in any way. I have to admit, I almost bought a Challenger myself. I love anything with four wheels that is fast!

I have a long time ago owned ford products, the first car I ever bought in the army was a 71 thunderbird with a 429. I learned over time that fixing up older cars to be hot rods that it was just better going G.M. No stupid suspension problems like on the rela old mercury comets and such and giant shock towers you have to cut out to put headers in: mustang, or a back seat you have to metal off due to the drop in tank... Also some of their early electronic ignition stuff was nightmare. Nothing convinced me to trade a mustang or challenger for the Camaro I researched first and have taste and look for value, function, and awesome good looks and the Camaro beat both pretty handily when I got my first gen 5. And I thought the challenger was about 80-90 good but the fact they made the sides look like they compacted a old challenger flat was a bummer and well I did not want to pony up extra to go SRT 8 hemi....hemoids are harder to build as is a dual over head cam and more costly compared to good old regular pushrod single cam been around forever good friggin engine....remember they may say oh we have this engine...well their lines both ran engines like ours forever too...... And they are still making them too....

For me it came down to options, h.p., looks, cost, reliability, and buildability to be a awesome N/A beast!!!! I sat in a newer mustang once on a test drive in back not that funny.... lol

2013 2ss/rs NPP CRT, Forged 428 ls3 stroker, Mast windage, GMPP ported heads, Katech chain, Trunnion upgrade, Cam motion stage 3, SP headers, Vmax PTB, Monster c7 dual clutch, Mgw shifter, Fluidampr 25%UDP, CAI induction, rocket racing wheels, clutch reservoir, bmr toes and trailing arms, Lpw diff cover , scanner, drl's led /fogs, elite catch can, MRT louvers, tint, ZL1 spoiler, stripes & badging, etc....

I really like the Challenger and if they had not made the 5th Gen Camaro would have bought one. But on the other hand my favorite is the Camaro. I have had 2 67, 1 68, 1 78, and 2 5th Gens...

it always appeared to me that Camaro was usually 1 step ahead of the mustang, mustang still has a retro interior, chevy went futuristic, chevy is the first with independent suspension, chevy had the first 300+ horse v6,,, .. but look into what the mustang guys can do with their stereos,, they can do stuff like put gauges up on their touch screens and stuff like that, plus it's super easy & cheap to put a head unit in a mustang, almost makes me jealous.. Challenger is definitely retro and a good looking car but $3k starting price over mustang/Camaro & bulky size means it gets less attention.

2012 1LS Silver Ice - Mods - SS Strut Brace, RX Catch Can, BBK CAI, TRS Bi-Xenon HID's, Blackout Grill, RX65 Radar Detector, 700watt 4 Channel Amp with Kicker Speakers, 4Pack Gauges Added, 30% tint. Baer Drilled Rotors & pads, 20" American Racing. Awesome car.

Absolutely agree with both of you. I looked a a Challenger R/T. Then I looked at the camaro. The Challenger was 8 thousand dollars more. It was heavier. Slower.

I chose the Camaro because my SS was the best deal. For the record, there was a 2011 Mustang GT that I was looking at. It had 5,000 miles, it was silver, and a manual trans. It had been sitting at the dealer for quite some time. I called them and said I'd come there immediately if they'll let it go for $23,000. The salesman said he had to check and would call me back. I figured I wouldn't hear from him again. But he called back in 5 min and said he got the approval to let it go. I told him I was on my way. Then he called back 30 min later and said the car had already been taken to auction and sold.

Another Mustang GT I looked at was a 2010 5 spd. The dealer would not budge on the price. They wanted like $28K or $29K. I asked them to drop it to $26K and they wouldn't. So I bounced. Thats when I found my SS. 2010 LS3 2SS/RS with 10K miles for about $26,500. This was in 2012 so it was 2 years old. I tried to get it down to 26 even but they wouldn't budge. Didn't matter because I figured I was not gonna find a better deal than this. So I jumped on it. Best decision I ever made. My best friend a few weeks ago was chatting with me and said "yea looking back, you would have been playing yourself if you had got that Mustang. This was the best choice you made"! Lol!

Side note, I've always been a fan of all performance cars but I gravitate more towards Chevy...with exception to the Viper, lol! I hate to say it, but if the 2010 GT was dropped down to my asking price, or if the 2011 Coyote had still been available, then you guys would have never met me, lol!!

Always been a chevy fan since my 2nd vehicle. First vehicle was a 1986 Ford escort, 2nd vehicle was a 1988 GMC van.

Loved it at the time. GM fan ever since.
