On Star Remote Link

Has anyone tried out the On Star remote link app on your cell phone.
It's got key fob commands, vehicle status, map locations which will sync with your nav. The key fob part will lock, unlock and remote start your car.

What do you think or is it just another silly tech toy.

Also what is purpose of paying for On Star if your car has nav.
Except for the few extras On Star offers...............

Yes i have its sure not as fast as the commercials show but its works. I like how you can put in an address and it will send it to car. It to me is a useful app...

I use it on my Denali, cause I use the remote start feature, great for when you are on the lake in 100 degree weather, start the Denali from the boat and 10 min later when I get up there it isn't a sauna in the vehicle... use it when we go out to eat in the cold weather too.. when they bring the check, i start the vehicle.

I use the remote link app, its handy when you can't remember if you locked the car, but you are out of remote range. As for the OnStar service, I will probably always use it. I had it with my Malibu and had called several times to get pulled out of a snow bank, flat tire. I like that there aren't limitations on how much you can use it, and being in a very rural area, with sometimes no cell coverage, its great peace of mind. My aunt had an accident a couple years ago in her Cobalt, and because of OnStar, the state trooper arrived within minutes. It was late at night, and it might have gone unnoticed by what traffic there was. I also have used the directions to find things when I am out of town. I have had insurance agents try to talk me into their roadside assistance plan, and tell me OnStar is SOOOO expensive. then I ask them how many times I can use their plan, and they proudly say "Oh, 4 calls a year"...yeah, I have used almost that many in a week when we had a bad snowstorm. I'll keep my OnStar.

Remote link came in handy this morning, apparently last night I put my keys somewhere "safe" because I couldn't find them this morning. Used the App, opened the car, and got the spare out...yeah, probably not the best place, but at least I got to work!

I hate when that happens (putting things someplace safe) and then you can't find whatever it was you put away.

I don't know if I ever would have found them, I asked my daughter to look around the house, and she says, I know where they are...I was amazed and asked her WHERE ARE THEY? Apparently I hung them on a hook in the bathroom...uggghhh, but at least they are found. Not sure if I need to drink more or less.
