SS Brembos - Back in Black

After just under 2 years, my factory Brembo set-up are starting to lose their "luster". Caliper finish and letters are fading, the disc hubs are looking nasty...only to get worse. So...I decided to paint. Went with VHT high temp satin black for the calipers and VHT high temp satin black engine enamel for the rotor hubs. Prep is key and boy did I prep my arse off, in fact that is the most meticulous part of the process...and the result depends on your prep. I ordered new Brembo high temp decals for the calipers in silver to match my rally stripes, they aren't due in until the end of the week. My theme is pretty much black with a bit of silver...besides the retro SS front/rear badging...which I'll keep their original look. I though they came out great. I'm not the best when it comes to paint and I do not have a steady hand but...I was surprised at how good they came out in the end. Happy 2014

Looks good ... something I would like to do once it gets warm again ... I'm curious how well decals stay on the calibers

Very well done - looks great. This is something on the to-do list in the future. What did you use to remove the rust and prep the rotor hubs?

Who knew the fountain of youth came with 400+ HP!

On my 'To Do' list. I got the G2 caliper paint in gloss black and my hubs look just like yours in the rear. I got the car this past August with 3500 miles on it and the calipers must have had improper cleaning but they look bad to me.
I already have the stickers as well, went silver as well. Plan to let it get warm, jack the car up and go to work.
Thanks for the info and great look you have going!

Thank you much! Most of that surface rust look wiped off after using brake cleaner on it. I cleaned the hell out of it. You don't have to use primer but I kind of wish I did. I just cleaned and sprayed 3 coats with 10-15 mins of drying in between. Once done, just let the dry for a good 3-4 hours and reassembled then gave it a full 24 hours to cure before driving. You'll love the results

Thanks!! I appreciate it. Yea, it has been somewhat cool here in central Texas, but I just cracked my garage door for ventilation and just painted in there where the temp was warmer than out side, and no **** wind. I never see any black calipers...usually red or yellow or what not, which is cool....but I wanted to go black, glad I did. Thanks again!
