2011-2012 Mustang powertrain details?

From another forum Not sure if it's real or not since the dude got the camaro's horsepower figure wrong (the 4 hp makes a big difference!!1!), but:
  • 3.7L V6 to be rated at 315 horsepower: Same as 2010 GT; 15 hp more than Camaro V6
  • No immediate plans for EcoBoost V6 Mustang due to small horsepower gap between EcoBoost and 5.0L V8 (365 vs 400)
  • 2011 Mustang GT to be rated at 400 horsepower, will get increase in 2012
  • 2011 Mustang GT to get 6-speed transmission and variable valve timing
  • 2011 Mustang GT Track Pack to include Brembo brakes
  • 2011 Mustang GT 5.0L V8, 6-speed, track pack, Brembo brakes ran even with 414-hp BMW M3, which is 200 lbs lighter, at GingerMan Raceway in South Haven, Michigan
  • 2011 Shelby GT500 to get Aluminum Block
  • Next special edition: 2012 Boss
I think GM can hold their own. All they have to fight is perception.

I would have to agree. Now that the Camaro is back with a "Bang", GM doesn't need to let Ford catch it's breath. I would hope that GM doesn't rest on it's laurels, and would continue to refine the Camaro. Possibly put it on a diet and get it in better "fighting" shape. I think that Ford is serious about not losing too much ground to the Camaro, and the "Ponycar" wars have been revived. I'll be reporting for duty next year.

We all can see that the new Camaro has plenty of potential. GM may just leave it up to us to modify our cars to win the battle in the trenches. But I, for one, would like to see the factory churn out some "special" models (i.e. Z28, 1LE, the LS7 SEMA car, etc.).

Only time will tell. Let us hope and pray GM is on the ball!
