Instead of putting the diesel engines in the little A3 or the Q7 SUV, how about Audi thinking about the A4 models....you know the ones they sell the most of. That would bring price down and allow them to sell without charging a premium.

I'd still like to see GM come out with a 60-75 MPG econo diesel or a 35-40mpg regular sized diesel powered sedan.

My parents owned 2 diesel powered Ford Escorts back in the 80s. They would knock down 50mpg on the highway all day long.

The big problem with small diesels are that they're daaaamn ssssssslllllooooooowwwwww.
And how GM's reputation is..if someone got one and it was just as slow..it would be all over the news and everyone would bash the hell out of them.
Despite everyone else's being just as slow.

Add a turbo to the diesel to get the extra 0-60 mph boost.

Did a little looking around.

BMW has a 4 pop diesel that they hope to put in the 1 series that will get 55 mpg !!!

Pretty much all of the new ones are turbodiesel.
But they still get 0-60 in 11+.

diesels really aren't that bad.. maybe it's cause i'm a farmboy who'se used to the ruckus a diesel makes, but my buddy has a vw jetta tdi with 200k miles.. still felt good driving, lots of fun in fact, and that's all that really matters when it comes down to it.

BMW 335d

155 mph, 0 to 62 mph in 6.0 seconds and 428 lb.-ft. of torque.

Audi is working on bringing them here. I still would like to see GM step up and do something similar. Maybe a 40+ mpg diesel Malibu. or a 35 mpg diesel Traverse or Enclave.

It also costs as much as a Corvette and gets 36mpg highway.
I was talking about the ones that claim 55+mpg.
