General Motors has reached a final deal to sell the Hummer brand to China-based Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Co., the companies announced Friday. As part of the deal, GM will continue to make Hummer SUVs until at least 2011.
Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Co. is one of China's major, privately owned engineering companies. It builds heavy machinery, including road and bridge construction equipment and energy industry equipment. It plans to acquire Hummer through an investment entity.
