Chevrolet HHR

Chevrolet announced to dealers today that the current model year (2011) will be the last for the Chevrolet HHR model. Production of the HHR will cease in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico in the spring of 2011.

Chevroletís product lineup is growing, in 2011 and beyond. The new Chevy Cruze is launching in North America now, and is already a major marketplace success worldwide. The Chevrolet Volt extended-range electric car will begin its launch soon. Two additional new Chevrolet small cars will follow Cruze and Volt, creating a broader and more fuel efficient range of cars.

HHR has been a successful product for Chevrolet, combining the cargo carrying capacity of an SUV with the efficiency of a small car, wrapped inside a design that celebrates Chevroletís heritage. More than 500,000 HHRs have been sold since its introduction in the 2006 model year.

Two things:

Let's get a Malibu Wagon (screw crossovers), AND
Bring back the S10. The Colorado/Canyons, while not bad trucks, have some of the WORST INTERIORS I'VE EVER SEEN.

The HHR certainly felt like the "old GM" type of cars. Sloppy with crappy interiors. I liked the exterior style but if this was required in order to free up a plant to build the Aveo RS and/or Spark then it's all good!

Styling was pretty sharp but the interior was horrid. I rented one when I was in DC several years ago and hated it. It felt clunky and very cheap.

I never hated them, but agree that they could've been done better.

We were supposed to get that new Chevy Orlando to replace the HHR, but I'm not sure if that's still a go for the US market or not.

As of this second, NO. Which stinks, because the HHR is a good seller, now we'll have a void in the line up.

You know as well as I, in Chicago the Orlando went over really well. "Everywhere but the USA" - booooooooooo!

Yeah it did get a good response.
Well, maybe it'll show up here after a couple years, who knows.

But I agree, the Aveo and the Spark won't fill that void.
MAYBE the Cruze hatchback could.... maybe.
The Cruze hatchback isn't an approved program for any market yet I don't think.
But that needs to come to the US market as well.

I would probably have a HHR SS right now if I had the money instead of a G5.
