GM will boost production of its Volt extended-range electric vehicle from the planned 10,000 to more than 25,000 this year.

I liked the Volt..until I found out the 'range extender' requires premium fuel.


Kinda defeats the purpose.

Around here Premium fuel costs about 7-8% more than regular. That is a very small negative in a world of positives about the car
While the premium fuel costs a little more, it is anything but defeating the purpose. They should be E-85 compatible next model year if not sooner.

Most people who go for massive MPG want to use the cheapest gas possible..which Premium most definitely isn't.
