That's too much. Standard options look nice, but GM wouldn't have had much choice since some of those "standard" options are, or will be, required safety features in the near future.

Great news! Finally the entry level car is built right here in the U.S.A. within a few miles of the Motor City!

Wow..that's almost as much as a base Cobalt used to cost.

Gotta love .gov regulations skyrocketing prices up.

That car should be priced under $13K base IMO. They should have let the designer win the "wheel war" and given the **** thing steelies and hubcaps.

Based on what exactly? Here is a wrap up of some of the SONIC competition and their current MSRP:

Ford Fiesta $15,500
Honda Fit $15,100
Toyota Yaris $13,155
Nissan Versa $9,990

Seems GM is right on target with the SONIC pricing in the $14K range based on equipment etc.

Regarding the wheels, one piece alloy wheels > steel wheels + caps. One part, not two, Alloy weighs less, looks better, better handling/MPG

The Fiesta has considerably more gadgets, looks better, is quicker, and has a nicer interior.
The Fit is a larger vehicle and Honda's are overpriced anyway.
It needed to be priced with the Yaris and Versa.

You act like it has already been out a while and flopped?

Lets give it a chance, based on what GM/Chevrolet has done these past few years, they are doing something right. They invest millions in things like packaging and pricing and do it very well, lets see where it goes

Of course we don't know where it will go or if people will like it. My comment is about THIS PRESS RELEASE and that, in my opinion, it should have been priced about $1,500 lower for competitiveness. I made no comments on how it will sell based on it's price. I said it should be lower, and COULD have been lower if they'd offered a hubcapped wheel instead of bending to the artist that designed it. ALL TRUE THINGS. What's your malfunction?
