DETROIT -- General Motors is increasing the powertrain warranty on all its 2007 model vehicles to 5 years or 100,000 miles, the automaker said today.

Good first start, but didnt go far enough. Look at some of the other vendors (specifically those trying to prove themselves -- i.e. the Korean car markers) they have 10/100k on drivetrains and 5/50 Bumper-to-Bumper.

I was hoping that GM would go a bit futher than just upping the drivetrain.

With the costs of cars these days, to get customers to buy your stuff, they want to reassurance. Especially when most have to do 5 and 6 year loans. I think they need to go out at least 5 year on the BTB as well to really make a dent.

Shoot higher GM -- show more confidence in your product and people will respond. But, this is a good start.
