Help me hunt down a noise from the Convertible

OK. Was going to hold out for the proposed convertible forum, but this MAY apply to the coupe as well.

When driving at multiple varying speeds, I keep hearing a "Jingling metel" sound coming from somewhere. I can best describe the sound as a "metal chain occassionally hitting the ground" (Like safetly chains on a trailer), or "several washers on a bolt".

This may or may not occur while driving over a bump/rough road, but can also occur while on a smooth road with a frequency of every couple of seconds. Other times no sound at all. At one time I thought it was disappearing with light application of the brakes (brembo), but not sure about this anymore. It doesn't sound "tinny" like an exhaust/baffle sheild sound either.

Anyone else with this sound? Any ideas? This isn't super-loud, but as many of you can attest too, any "weird" sound coming from your Camaro can drive you nuts. Thanks for any help or ideas.

Look under your car by the exhaust shields. Ther are some pretty tight spots. Use a small flash light and make shur you have 1/8" gap or more.

I wonder if that is the sound I sometimes here when I'm at a stop light. It sounds like something small getting dropped in the trunk. Maybe a nut or a small bolt.

Nothing I've ever been concerned about. I just realized it the other day.

I'll give it a look, but it just doesn't sound like an exhaust or exhaust shield sound.

After I got my CAT back installed I had a similar issue. It would lightly rattle under acceleration and/or if I was on a rough road.

At the tunnel brace I found some very slight abrasions on the exhaust pipe. Probably wouldn't have seen them except it was up on a rack and I was using a flashlight.

Couple flat washers on the tunnel brace bolts and voila' ... no more rattle.

Just my experience ... YMMV

I have had that rattle since I got my muffle deletes. Sounds like the metal is jingling sometimes when you accelerate. Still haven't been able to figure it out, but it has been there for over a year so I don't worry/notice it anymore haha.

I don't have any noises in my new convert, but you should check the exhaust clearances for sure....It may be an exhaust hanger came loose....

The only thing metal was the exhaust back, and it seems very solid. No metal/metal sound when it "torques" on engine rev.

Still have the noise, and have tried reving engine at different RPM's, shook the entire exhaust, and beat on eveything else I can think of. I seems to occur at fast and slow speeds, and definitly can be heard driving down the ally between buildings.

May take the service department at the local GM store for a ride and see if they can figure it out. Thought it might be a sound others were experiencing, but seems specific to Bre-Z at this point in time.

Thanks for everyone's help/suggestions.
