Fuel Mileage Question

Just returned from a 1700 mile trip in the new SS/RS Vert. I was slightly disappointed in the fuel mileage; I averaged less than 21 MPG. Most of the driving was at steady interstate speeds. I would have thought the MPG would have been higher in the interstate with the top up. Am I expecting too much???

Probably...what was your average high end cruising speed? Because that could make a big difference...was it 55 or 75 mph?
Here's a thread that discusses fuel mileage if you're interested...

Recently, I took a drive from Michigan to Northern George mountains in my 2010 2SS LS3. With cruise control on and in 6th gear for most of the trip and with highway speeds between 68 and 74. My DIC reading was 26.1 MPG
This is awesome, 426 HP and 26.1 MPG. And I love driving thru the mountains.

I went from WI to CO. I averaged 22 to 23 mpg. Went 72 in 65 zone and 81 in 75 mph zone. If I drive it around 60 mph I can get 26 mpg. 2SS 6sp manual.

If it's brand new it's probably not broken in yet.
Also keeping your foot out of the throttle body helps.

If I got 20 I'd be jumping for joy! I get 16 on a good week. Granted it's city traffic and I'm not heavy on the gas either.
