Garage
That's normal. It also cuts out in the mountains and in the garage. Anything in the way of the signal will block it.

Trees near the interstate and buildings 3 stories or taller will kill my signal on the G8.

XM is satellite. It's far more prone to signal problems due to signal blocking than terrestrial FM radio.

Same here. That's why I didn't keep it. If I can't listen to my radio in the yard while I'm messin with the car, then why have it? Besides, my cd's never fade out.

Mines largely useless here in the Tacoma, WA area. I never thought trees would be the bane of my reception.....

No problems in Nebraska......Flat land with nothing taller than corn I really still haven't had much problems even after I moved the XM antenna.
