2012 Z28 running laps at the 'Ring

The highly anticipated Chevrolet Camaro Z28, which we caught an early glimpse of this summer, has been shipped off to Germany to be put through its paces on the Nürburgring. Much of the early prototypes' heavy front cladding has been stripped away and replaced with General Motors' usual checkerboard camouflage, but we can still see the Z28 upgrades clear as day under all that tape.

As if the massive power bulge in the hood doesn't give it away, the Z28 will be powered by the same supercharged 6.2-liter LSA V8 that's found in the Cadillac CTS-V. In that application, 556 horsepower is pumped to the rear wheels, but there's no telling what sort of power numbers will be on tap in the Z28.

We won't be shocked if the Z28 makes its official debut at the Los Angeles or Detroit auto shows with the first sales starting sometime in 2011.

okay, if i can get a 1 or 2 year old used ZR-1 bone stock with low miles for the same price as a brand new Z06, then i would jump all over it!

but yeah, thats my plan, and thats why i'm not spending more money on performance parts for my SS. if i can i will try and keep both cars, but only if i have this one paid off by then and i have had a couple of raises by that time!

Please, if that hood stays... styling faux pas in the making.

I'm hoping there's still some camo attempts going on.

Yes, and I STILL don't like that hood. I'd rather see one like a T2 scoop or the Leno heat extractors. I think it looks like azz. But that's only my opinion.

I reserve judgement on the entire package until I see a showroom version.

I'm sure it's just the dirt on the rear tires... but MAN those tires look like they've been abused.
