Will I need a tune.

This is sim. to a thread in the engine section but this is meant for ZL1. Will I need a tune for just adding CAI and headers? Any thoughs? I plan to track the car so I don't want to void the warranty which is extended to the track so no tunes in the near future for me.

I agree that I don't want to tune. But if I can get another 30-50 hp without a tune it would be nice. I'm a tru mod ho.

I pick the car up Weds. and then have to wait for the breakin period to end before I can really get on it. I think Chevy may have picked my car for some testing it had almost 42 miles on it when it came off the transporter. It's strange that the Corvette is thrashed by the factory fresh off the assembly line but the Camaro has a breakin period.

If I am not mistaken, the only way you retain your warranty is if your car is NOT MODIFIED. If you put on a CAI alone, that is modifying. Add headers, there's another modification. Tune? FAGETTABOUTIT. I really think just the CAI and you are a goner.

After all, GM built it according to what they want to take responsibility to fix if it breaks. You alter that, they are off the hook totally!

Now think about it... you add CAI and headers you increase air flow, combustion, stress on the engine. I'm actually wondering how much you'd really notice the difference on that?

JMHO.

Guess I will leave it alone and not take a chance until after the warranty is over.

I wouldn't worry about an intake...you can always remove it if you need any warranty work. BUT, with headers you will need a tune. Also with headers you'd lose a little bit of boost, which would probably lead to a pulley swap....in which case, if you're worried about the warranty you probably shouldn't go there....yet.

It def. looks like any mods in the near future will be cosmetic. I'm planning on some serious mods when the warranty expires. Maybe a Lingenfelter 700 hp upgrade is in order.
