New ZL 1 owner

I just turned my ZL1 with the automatic trans over 1500 and took it to the strip.
Much to my surprise when I set the traction control to race #5 and hit the gas at the line the tach hit 2500 and fell flat on its face, then took off again.
I thought I did something wrong so I went back at it and the same thing happened again.
When we got home I took it to my local dealer and showed the tech what was happening, he was just as confused as I was.
He called into the tech line for techs and they told him the car was protecting itself from abuse.
Anybody else had this problem ?
know how to fix it?
The best time I turned was 12.78 really disappointing.

Yes - many people at GM do read the posts on this site!

I was asked by a couple of Engineers to post the following:

".....Autos don't have launch control and one of the functions of launch control is to keep PTM from intervening during a straight line acceleration. The customer should run at the strip with tcs off (one push of the button) in an auto................"

Now that said: PLEASE -- this is for AT THE TRACK ONLY.

Please don't street race. It's a bad idea and way too many times it ends very badly.

Further - I urge everyone to leave the traction control ON when driving on public highways. Yes - I know - most people think they're excellent drivers - but I remind them that even professional race drivers have lots of accidents.......so you aren't as good as you think you are!

Ditto that...you have a high 11 sec car, with DR's, good weather, and driver skill. Step back for a second and realize, for those of us lucky enough to own one of these cars, we are driving factory 11 sec capable cars, and easy 12 sec cars by average drivers. All this from the factory with a warranty...that is pretty impressive....

What was your trap speed? That may indicate something going on power wise.
