Why why why?

Why is it that every video I watch is of the ZL1 running only 111-113 trap speeds? Is this just because people just aren't driving them as hard as they can? I would think even at 4051 lbs with 580 hp it should trap in the neighborhood of 117-120

Proud owner of a 2005 srt-4 on less boost and heat soaked put down 372whp and 395wtq. Building my 1973 celica hopefully running before police academy starts. Can't wait to own a new car off the lot. Looking into the 1lz

So is it just driver error? I keep looking for actual trap speeds but for some odd reason I only run across the people trapping 113 or less. I mean a stock ss 6m can do that. I've seen it first hand bone stock

Nothing huh? That's too bad. Was really thinking about a zl1 but not if my srt-4 can out trap it

Well if you look at the rear end of the ZL1 and then take exactly where SC starts to kick in from stock, you're already down the track by the time you're going to get a better trap. That's why chevy made the 1LE package to get a better ET off the front so you can already be wound up by the back 66.

Of course all this can be changed with adjustments on the ZL1, but just saying if you want to compare stock that's the reason.

Ah so it's power band isn't really set up for drag racing huh? More of a rode race car right?

The ZL1 seems to be more built for autocross than drag racing. I'm sure there is various reasons for trap speeds, 1/4 mile time etc. Some driver error, some just the car.

Drag racing isn't everything. A road race setup is MUCH different, as has been stated, and much more challenging.
