It's best to treat suede regularly to keep it from soiling...every 3-4 months. Most suede cleaners and protectants are geared for the shoe market and there are many different brands which don't differ much in price...but the only one I have experience with is the Kiwi brand protectant which does a great job of keeping suede shoes/boots waterproof for months. It's best to use a suede brush to "refluff" the pile first then spray with the protectant...which will initially darken the suede slightly...but only until it dries. Kiwi also makes a suede cleaner but if you keep the suede well protected it won't ever need it. BTW...the protectants have a very strong odor (like Scotchguard) so only use when you can open up your doors and get good ventilation.
