Dealer Wrecks ZL1 #1635; Refuses to Pay for Replacement

Hi guys, I'm new here, but as a member over at C5 (6500 posts; not a troll) I feel that everyone needs to hear about this guy's story. Basically he had his car in at the dealer for a PAINT issue, and after hours the service writer decided to steal his car and take it on a little joy ride and wrap it around a tree. They now refuse to take responsibility for his totaled car, and won't even give him their insurance info. The OP over there is not a troll, he is the owner of that ZL1, and the dealer took down their Facebook after people started posting on there about the incident. Now we are just trying to spread the word to other Chevy and Camaro enthusiasts and communities. The dealer is 1st State Chevy in Georgetown, Deleware.

Thanks for the help everyone!

Here is the original thread: RIP 2012 ZL1 #1635 - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums - Camaro5.com

And here are some pictures of the totaled ZL1:

Amazing....the shop liability insurance should cover it no problem....something is not right. Contact GM cust service for sure, but ultimately this is a dealer/customer issue and an atty is a must here if all posted is accurate.

Also, report it to the local PD....and splatter it all over the Web. I think that last one's covered.

More ideas:

Better Business Bureau
Angie's List
Local newspaper

...and every review site you can think of....IF they don't REPLACE your car.

I read that entire thread on C5.... It looks as if a local paper is already involved, networking the internet has already had its impact, as the dealerships FaceBook page has been shut down, and the Service Writer has been fired.

In fact, if anyone lives in that area, there is currently an opening for a Service Writer. There's always two sides of every story, I just hope this one gets resolved in a positive manner.

From my understanding the other side of the story is that the dealer is offering him a used ZL1, and he wants a new one. I agree with the OP though, if that happened to my car I wouldn't accept anything other than a brand new car

Update, dealer offers a used "one owner" 2012 ZL1 and $4000 cash. The car offered turns out to be a two owner car with more miles and accident damage. Carfax verified. Owner counters with car plus $11,000. Manager of dealership calls the owner an extorsionist and calls him as bad as the guy who stole the car and wrecked it.
The story has been picked up by Yahoo and jalopnik. Over 100,000 views on Camaro5.
