Unhappy My tuner told me to come back to finish the job, now he's AWOL

I saw a tuner about 3 weeks ago to get a full tune done on my 2010 Camaro. He said he wasn't able to do a complete tune at the time because the software needed to be updated, so I should just check back in 1-2 weeks about coming back for another run. I was told this second run would be at no additional charge (I already paid in full). Anyway I've e-mailed twice and called several times around the time they usually open and have not been able to get a response from anyone at the shop. The answering machine is always full so I can't leave a message ("memory full" says the answering machine), still no e-mail response, and their web page message has been changed to a black screen with the message "please check back with us later". Seems like maybe he closed up shop shortly after taking my money? He must of had like 10 cars in various stages of turbo, supercharger and headers installation, so it would have to be pretty freakin unlikely that's actually what happened, but I don't know.

Is there maybe a city department that I could call to verify he's still running the business? Would have been nice if he had mentioned if getting back in touch "in the next 2 weeks" was actually possible.

Or you could go and visit the shop and see if it's still operating.

That's what I would do at this point before taking it to the next level.

You sure haven't had good luck with much lately! Are you sure you don't need some magic eraser for your forehead?

Dang you aren't kidding. The shop is an hour drive on the highways on a good day, not convenient to just drop in to see if someone's home. If I do decide to drop by I won't be in a very accommodating mood.

Are there any local car forums that may have some information on the vendor? How did you find out about the shop? Could you have that source possibly track him down?

There's a corvette forum where he was highly recommended by several posters (maybe they were plants). I suppose I could join the forum and ask them.

Yep, that's what I would do. Just be careful starting a post to get info. Maybe a few PM's would be best to start. If that doesn't help, then start a thread. Nothing worse that someone calling a vendor out in public when there is time (and a reason) to make right.

UPDATE: back in touch, I was able to PM the guy directly on the forum site. Thanks for the advice.
