New Exhaust and Cold Air Intake

I just bought and installed new Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust, and a K&N cold air intake and i was wondering if you needed a new tune up for it? if so where and how could you do that? if not then should i get a tune up for it?

I think the only reason people get a tune is if the car throws a code. I installed an exhaust, shorty headers and CAI and have not had problems with it. A tune will more than likely void your engine warranty if not done by GM. I believe GM does not approve of the CAI replacement also. The exhaust warranty is void but no big deal. The engine is though if you want to retain your warranty. Your dealer may give you a by on the CAI. Hope this helps.

Thanks, also I have a small ticking noise on the sides of my engine block when its at idle, I've checked the manual and it says it might be a spark knock if you use a lower octane gas, so I put in the high end gas with 91+ octane. I've filled up 3 times since I last used the lower octane gas and the ticking noise still persists. I have a feeling it may be a lifter but not sure, what's your take?

If you used less than 91 octane you need to pull the two fuses to reset the fuel map. There is a good write up on here about it.

And no there is no need for a tune with what you have done.

You said you had used lower octane a few fill ups ago so yes pull the fuses.

well that was when i got it, for maybe like 4 fill ups then i switched to higher octane fill ups now and probably filled it up 5 times after i switched and the noise is still there. ive her multiple things it could be like a problem with a lifter, spark knock, or something to do with the AFM

All it takes is one tank of regular or mid-grade to mess up the car. Either try it or don't.

It doesn't reset automatically to the higher fuel map just by going back to higher octane. Once you go to the lower octane fuel map, you have to do the fuse pull.

I have NEVER put anything but Shell V Power Premium in mine, but still have to do the fuse pull about every 6 weeks to keep it on its best game.
