Spark Advance

It's really hard to find information on tuning, it seems the people that know how to tune don't want to help anyone that's learning how to tune.

I've been messing around with HP Tuners for 2 weeks and I'm wondering something about spark advance...

Is the goal to increase spark advance as much as possible until you get knock retard?

For example, if there is no knock retard, should I increase the spark advance a little at a time until there is knock retard, and then back off to get rid of the knock retard?

Thanks in advance for any advice or help.

also, is there any way we can have a moderator add the ability to add .hpl and .hpt files in case one day we have people willing to share information and tune files?

You want the spark advance that makes the most HP. By the time you get knock you have WAY to much timing normally.
