Battery & More

I have a few questions

1. Is it possible for a battery to be bad on a 2012?

2. If I did have a bad battery would that cause the service stabilitrak warning to come on and stay on? And run really rough with 1/2 its power?

3. How do I know if I have a bad battery or if it is something else without going to an auto parts store because I don't feel comfortable driving my car anywhere?

4. If it is a bad battery is that something covered under warranty? And will they let me pick up a new battery or will they want to look at it themselves?

1. Yes.
2. Dunno, but I doubt it unless the voltage drops <9V
3. Let it sit overnight, then measure the voltage. It should be ~12V. If it's <11V, then the battery is bad.
4. Yes, and the dealer can check it for you.

Batteries can go bad anytime on any new or used vehicle. Just happens

Yes, it can cause a stability warning light, low voltage code, but would typically set other codes too, Run really rough with half power.. NO. Battery won't cause that at all, sounds like you have another issue, not battery related

Batteries are covered under warranty, but a warranty test code has to be done on your battery, before GM will just give you another battery. Batteries are only under warranty for 3 years or 36,000 miles. If you have less than that, whatever problem you have would probably be covered under your factory warranty anyway. Bottom line, probably not a battery, get it to a dealer to check it out.

My 11's battery gave up the Ghost -- it was built in 12/11 (yes, they still call it an 11 believe it or not) so its been 3 years. I replaced mine with a Duracell AGM:

SLI94RAGM Battery - 2010 to 2014 V8 6.2L 720CCA - Camaro - Chevrolet - Car and Truck - Batteries Plus

800 CCA (it says 720, but is really 800).

When mine went bad, the wiper blades went wacky when I tried to start it -- everything flashed and that was it...
