Truth in Engineering

For those of you who think the LS7 is a marvel of engineering consider this .
The LS7 Displaces 7.0 Liters or 427 cubic inches and produces 505 Horsepower or 1.18HP per cu in

Ford's Modular V-8 Displaces 4.6 Liters,281 Cubic inches and produces 315HP or 1.12Hp per Cu in

Chrysler's vererable SRT-8 Version of it's HEMI displaces 6.1 Liters and produces 425 hp or 1.17hp per cu in

Ferrari's F430 Scuderia displaces only 4.3 liters but produces 510Hp or 1.946hp per cu in

Mazda's Wankel displaces a mere 1.3 liters but produces 212hp or 2.68Hp per cu in

now imagine if more emphasis was on extracting the maximum power and efficency out of a small engine vs lazily getting big numbers out of a big engine I think the Chrysler and GM could benifit greatly with meeting emissions and fuel regs with Hi-po small engines than relying on methods that currently have them in a bind
do you any of you still think bigger is better?
please share your thoughts

I think that GM has done this. It's called Camaro LS or Camaro LT. How about the numbers...

3.6 Liter V6/219 Cubic inches 304 hp
1.38 hp/cubic inch.

As an owner of a LT2, I firmly believe it is indeed an engineering marvel. Especially considering the 29 mpg rating on the highway. I saw real world 28 on a 300 mile trip. Truth in advertising as well!

Cheers!

Did you check the pollution/MPG rating of these?
The 6.2L camaro gets virtually the samy MPG rating as the 4.6L mustang and the Camaro weighs more.

If they apply the same tech from the v6 Camaro to the v8 camaro it will be even better or they can lower CI and keep HP the same and boost MPG.

This all sounds like ricer math to me. The LS series IMO is more mod friendly than the mustangs engine. I do not see many non boosted mustangs that are fast. I do not see many if any mustang engines swapped into a Camaro body, but see many LS engines swapped into Mustangs. If the Mustang engine is so great then why is this true? Small mods to the LS engine drive HP output up fast. I have not seen this with the Mustang engines.

LS engine: let it breathe, improve air in and air out to make power
Ford mod engine: force it to breathe, add a supercharger to make power

Oh lawdy, don't feed the trolls. Especially this one. Also..THREAD NECRO. D:
The wankel may get a lot of power out of a small package..but you'll also be replacing that small package around every 75,000 miles or so.
And the Ferraris cost more than 5x more than a Z06.

Modern of engineering given the pricing and durability of the engine?
Of course.

There is no replacement for displacement. Give me all your "weak" LS7s. I'll gladly take them.
